Dear Members and Fellow Alumni:
In my message as incoming Club President I said the theme for the upcoming year would be, "Join us to build an even more successful Club!" I can happily report that you have been doing that. Our membership is the highest ever, and Member attendance at Club events has set records.
The theme reflects my vision for the Club: we will leverage the HBS franchise to provide benefits and opportunities for area alumni that might not be available without our collective presence. Realizing this vision, I believe, requires that the Club pursue three priorities related to alumni participation in the Club:
- Participation by Alumni becoming Members creates the collective presence (To be a part of the plan if you’re not currently a Member, please join for the first time or renew your Club membership now!);
- Participation of Members in our programs creates the critical mass needed to produce exciting events (You will shortly receive a survey from the Club requesting your input on our events and programs. Please take the time—it won’t take long—to complete the survey and return it. We can’t produce the benefits and opportunities you want if we don’t know what you want!); and
- Participation by Members in the Club leadership gives us the manpower to offer the benefits and opportunities that Members want.
We’ve done very well this year on the first two priorities. Your help is needed to achieve the third priority. Please go to volunteer opportunities and indicate your interest in helping us to make things happen! We are trying to set committee assignments for next year by April 16, 2012.
I welcome your input on the vision that I've expressed and the priorities required to achieve that vision. Being a great club benefits all of us, but we can't be a great Club without your involvement. Please contact me at President@HBSjax.org with your thoughts.
I look forward to seeing you at our Annual Membership Meeting and Dinner in May. It’s going to be an exclusive event leveraging the HBS franchise to give you an inside perspective on an important part of Jacksonville! Details will come shortly.
